Leamington Pollution Control Centre located at 435 Seacliff Drive East Leamington is for the treatment and disposal of sanitary sewage. It’s rated capacity of 41,560 m3/day and peak flow rate of 52,645 m3/day. This facility consists of two separate extended aeration plants with a single outfall to Lake Erie.
Construction of a new facility is well under way. Due to savings by constructing all 3 phases together and because of the Federal and Provincial funding, phases 3, 4 and 5 of the upgrades are being constructed as one project.

Phase 3 entails the preliminary designs of the entire new 35 MLD plant as well as the detail design and construction of two primary clarifiers, primary sludge pumping and chemical addition. Phase 3 also involves replacement of the existing preliminary headwork’s screen with two new screens and washing and compaction system, and construction of the second detritor.
Phase 4 of the upgrades entails the detail design and construction of the fine bubble aeration tanks, aeration systems, and blower building along with all associated ancillary equipment.
Phase 5 of the upgrades will complete construction of the new plant. It entails detailed design and construction of the secondary clarifiers. The secondary clarifier’s effluent will be conveyed to the UV system for disinfection. |
