The Public Works Department maintains the Municipal road infrustructure and its appurtenances.  The municipal assets consist of approximately 250 km of hard surface roads, 16.5 km of gravel roads and 59 km of sidewalks.

The associated maintenance activies consist of:

1. Road surface repairs

2. Winter Control - plowing/sanding/salting and snow removal

3. Grading of gravel roads
4. Shoulder maintenance
5. Road signage install and repair
6. Tree maintenance
7. Boulevard grass cutting and weed control
8. Minor bridge and culvert repairs
9. Roadway line painting
10. Manhole/catchbasin and curb repairs
11. Sidewalk Repairs - replace, repair, patch and grind
12. Sidewalk Winter Control - plowing and salting
13. Alley Maintenance - Winter control and repairs
14. Parking Lot Maintenance - Winter control and repairs/maintenance

The majority of these activities are completed in house with a staffing compliment of 16 full time staff and a range of vehicles and construction equipment.
