Solid Waste Collection

Sanitation Collection is contracted with Windsor Disposal Services Ltd.  There are an estimated 9274 residential households that receive the following service:

1. Once per week residential household waste collection:  four (4) bag/container/bundle limit.
   
2. Urban residential yard waste collection:  35 collections/year (weekly, April-Nov) of organics – four (4) bag/container/bundle limit.
   
3. Junk Collection:  Place material out with regular garbage collection.  Junk is bulky items such as couches, mattresses, etc.  BUILDING & RENOVATION MATERIALS OR METAL AND OTHER NON-COLLECTIBLE WASTE ITEMS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.”
   
4. Urban residential leaf collection:  during the month of November, schedule is advertised in the local newspaper.  It is not recommended to rake fallen leaves onto municipal roadway.  Rake leaves to curbside to be removed with leaf vacuum.
   
5. Once per month white goods/metal collection:  Fridges, stoves, water tanks and metal items.  Residents must call 519-322-2346 to request a collection at least one (1) week prior to collection date.  (This service is contacted out by the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority, EWSWA)

Collection calendars are handed out yearly

with information for various sanitation services. You should receive your calendar by the end of January.
