The Leamington and south Essex County area offer a wealth of great things to do and see. Here are a few things to get you started:

Shopping:  Leamington has great shopping whether it's in our quaint uptown or in our other commercial districts. Great stores, services and restaurants. Visit www.uptownleamington.ca for a glimpse at the uptown.

The Arts Centre: 72 Talbot St. W. (519) 326-2711.  The Arts Centre hosts numerous art shows and special events. A variety of classes in many mediums of art are also available. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 12-4 pm. and Sunday from 1-4pm.

ErieQuest Marine Heritage Museum: Located in the Arts Centre at 72 Talbot St. W.  (see above for hours). ErieQuest houses the nautical history of the Pelee Passage. Informative displays and shipwreck discoveries.

Point Pelee National Park: One of Canada's family of 40 National Parks. Enjoy hiking through the Carolinian forest on more than 10 km. of trails, canoeing along the Marsh Boardwalk, or picnicking on one of the park's many beached. Ecologically significant with many rare plant and animal species. Visit their web site.

The Leamington Fair: Held the third weekend each June.. The Leamington Agricultural Society presents its annual fair. Tons of fun for the whole family. Contact: 519-326-8082 for more information.

The Leamington Tomato Festival: Every third weekend in August, Leamington pays its respects to the red globe that made us famous. Watch the parade, listen to great music, enjoy the Tomato Stomp or just have fun. Contact the Leamington District Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary: Founded by the father of Canadian conservation, the Jack Miner homestead welcomes thousands of migrating birds each spring and fall. Displays and educational features. Located on Gosfield Road Three in Kingsville.

Heritage Village: Located on the Arner Townline in Kingsville, Heritage Village celebrates life in early Essex County. Features include the transportation museum, historical buildings and numerous displays. Special events held throughout the year including "Fun on Wheels" car show and auto flea market and arts and craft shows.  Call toll free (866) 776-6909 for more information or visit their web site.

Pelee Island:  For a quick get away to a quiet refuge be sure to visit Pelee Island. Great for hiking, biking and bird watching. For the latest ferry schedule visit Ontario Ferries or call 1-800-661-2220. Visit Pelee Island's web site for more information on things to do and see on the Island.

Conservation Areas: Essex County has several conservation areas of interest. Hillman Marsh and Kopegaron Woods are in Leamington.  These naturally protected areas are great for hiking or biking.  For a complete list of local conservation areas visit the Essex Region Conservation Area's web site.
