Leamington Council will hold an electronic Council meeting on May 24, 2022 at 6:00 PM. Council will consider:
- Zoning By-law Amendment Application No. 252, to amend the site specific zoning of the property located at 279 Erie Street South from Commercial Highway Zone (C2-9), to establish the use of the building as a hotel and to permit a banquet facility as an accessory use to the main hotel use.
- 2022 property tax adjustments as outlined in Schedule I and II of the report.

2022 Development Charges Background Study is now available

In advance of the public meeting scheduled for May 31, 2022, the 2022 Development Charges Background Study is now available and has been posted to the Municipality’s website at www.leamington.ca/studies.
The draft Development Charges By-Law has also been made available and is included as Appendix G-1 of the Development Charges Background Study.

Leamington will soon have a new business opening in its uptown.
Congratulations to Alissa Enns, winner of the Municipality of Leamington’s 2022 Reinvent This Space competition. Alissa, whose business idea is a plant-based bakeshop, will receive up to $15,000 in Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grant funding to cover 12 months of rent for an uptown Leamington storefront.

Municipality of Leamington using drone technology for by-law enforcement

The Municipality of Leamington is using drone technology to enhance its by-law enforcement services by collecting information and evidence from a bird’s-eye view.
The Municipality’s By-law Enforcement division will utilize a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), also known as a drone, where authorized by law, to capture by-law infractions and gather evidence related to property standards/land maintenance issues and illegal cannabis facilities.

Council Matters – May 10, 2022

At the Leamington Council meeting held on May 10, 2022, Council:
- Received an information report regarding the Improving Monitoring and Public Reporting of Sewage Overflows and Bypasses Funding Program. Council approved retaining Stantec Consulting Ltd., to complete the design, installation and municipal support.
- Deferred the decision on The Waterfront Destination Master Plan, prepared by thinc design, until the June 14, 2022, Council Meeting, to allow more time for Council consideration.
