Public Notice of Pesticide Use 2022

The Municipality of Leamington intends to control weeds on curbs, trails and rural bridges beginning on May 9, 2022, weather permitting and ending on October 21, 2022. The application of pesticide will be completed for public health and safety per section 7.1(2) of the Act.

Curbs and trails will be treated with AXXE Broad Spectrum Herbicide which contains the active ingredient Ammonium Salt of Fatty Acid 36% (Registration #32719) registered under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada).

At the Leamington Council meeting on April 12, 2022 Council:

  • Approved a Zoning By-law amendment application to remove the Holding (H) symbol from zoning of the 21 vacant properties, municipally known as 1-10 Sunningdale Drive, 15-19 Sunningdale Drive, and 2-16 Heathview Trail through to allow the development of 21 single unit residential dwellings.

Nominations for the Municipality of Leamington, 2022 Municipal Election may be filed beginning Monday, May 2, 2022.

Positions include Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councillors as well as Trustee for the following school boards: Greater Essex County District School Board, Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique Providence.

Leamington Discontinues Temporary Outdoor Patio Program as COVID-19 Restrictions Lift

The Municipality of Leamington has discontinued its temporary outdoor patio program as a result of the Ontario Government lifting capacity limits in all indoor public settings.

The program was launched in 2020 and continued in 2021, to support the local business community through COVID-19 economic recovery. The program allowed business owners to extend or establish a new temporary outdoor patio on private or public property to accommodate dine-in services safely during the height of the pandemic.
