Check Valve or Sump Pump

Flooding from severe weather conditions can cause sewage from the sanitary sewer to backup into people’s homes. To assist residents with flood proofing their homes, the municipality adopted the following reimbursement policy:

E00 – Flood Proofing – Subsidy to Residents

The Municipality will reimburse residents to flood proof their homes by installing back water flow preventors (check valves) and sump pumps with a subsidy of $200 per device and waive all permits and inspection fees for the said devices provided that:

• The homeowner makes the appropriate application to the Municipality for permits prior to making any of the said improvements;

• The home was constructed prior to July 24^th, 2000 and the said flood proofing is a “first time” improvement (not replacement).
