At the Council meeting held on December 17, 2018, Council:

  • Held a public meeting, supported provisional approval of Consent Application    B-42-18 to create a surplus dwelling lot located at 129 Mersea Road 8 and approved Zoning By-law Amendment #183 to change the zoning of the severed lands;
  • Held a public meeting and approved Zoning By-law Amendment #180 to change the zoning of the property at 156 Talbot Street West;
  • Received Zoning By-law Amendment #186 to remove the holding (H) symbol from the zoning of the property located south of the intersection of Talbot Street East and County Road 33, east of Anfred Street and authorized Administration to enter into the required site plan agreement;
  • Directed that cannabis retail stores not be prohibited from being located in the Municipality of Leamington (“opt-in”), approved Policy P09 – Cannabis Retail Stores – Matters of Public Interest (as amended) and directed Administration to apply the Policy when making submissions to the AGCO in connection with applications for Retail Store Authorizations;
  • Approved the installation of a Pedestrian Crossover (PXO Alternative 2: Three-Lane Cross-Section without Bicycle Lanes) on Erie Street South, approximately 145m south of Oak Street, to replace the existing Courtesy Crossing;
  • Approved the submission of applications for the construction of County Wide Active Transportation Projects LEAM-8, LEAM-9 and LEAM-22;
  • Directed that Administration issue the requested Letter of Concurrence stating that Rogers Communications Inc. has met the consultation requirements of Industry Canada’s Radio Communications and Broadcasting Antenna Systems Protocol CPC-2-0-03-i5 to the satisfaction of the Municipality for the installation of the 40m (131 ft) wireless communications tower on the lands known municipally as 403 Seacliff Drive West;
  • Approved Zoning By-law Amendment #185 to remove the Holding (H) symbol from the Commercial Highway (C2) zone of the property located at 208 Erie Street North;
  • Authorized the execution of a Conditional Building Permit Agreement between 10841862 Canada Inc. and the Municipality with respect to the erection of greenhouse posts at 408 Mersea Road 10;
  • Amended Council Procedure By-law 289-13 to reflect the change of Council meeting days which are to be held on the second and fourth Tuesday in each month, effective January, 2019;
  • Appointed Council Members to various Boards and Committees; and
  • Scheduled a Special Council Meeting for January 8 & 9, 2019 for Strategic Planning.
  • The following reports were deferred to the January 15, 2019 Council Meeting:
    • Report EDO-11-18 regarding Economic Development and Tourism Annual Report
    • Report LLS-71-18 regarding Business Licensing By-law – Further Feedback
    • Report LLS-83-18 regarding Appointment of Alternate Council Member to County Council
