Council Matters – January 31, 2023

At the Leamington Council meeting of January 31, 2023 Council:

  • Held a Court of Revision under the Drainage Act and approved the:
    • Updated Maintenance Schedule of Assessment for the Gorrell Drain.
    • Realignment of the Robert Anderson Drain.
    • Installation of a new access bridge of the Coulson Drain.
    • Installation of new access bridges over the East Part of the West part of the Reid Drain.
    • Installation of a new access bridge over the Bailey Drain.
    • Installation of a new access bridge over the 9th Concession Drain.
  • Received a report regarding 2022 Annual Drainage Scheme Meeting Minutes, appointed Pump Operators with an hourly rate increase, and appointed Commissioners with an annual pay increase.
  • Accepted the municipal services installed in the Destiny Estates Subdivision Phase 3, including the sidewalks, surface course of asphalt, and final pavement markings and amended the Traffic By-law to reflect the existing no parking, no stopping and stop controls that have already been installed.
  • Accepted the municipal services installed in the Destiny Estates Subdivision Phase 2, including the sidewalks, surface course of asphalt, and final pavement markings.
  • Established the reserve blocks on Destiny Drive as an open and public highway.
  • Accepted the municipal services installed in the Golfwood Lakes Subdivision Phase 2.
  • Directed the Clerk to present a by-law at its next meeting to appoint a member of Council to act as an alternate member of County Council.
  • Appointed Councillor Bill Dunn, Frank Ricci, and Brian Sweet to the Appeal Committee for a term to expire November 14, 2026.
  • Appointed Councillor Heather Latam, William Wright, and John Hammond to the Property Standards Committee for a term to expire November 14, 2026.
  • Appointed Renee Daudlin-Iacobelli, Michelle Fortier, Faith Monaco, Chad Riley, Chad Robinson, Richard Spencer, and Patricia Vance to the Leamington BIA Board of Directors for a term consistent with the 2022-2026 term of Council.
  • Appointed Lily Di Laudo, Delilah Heide, David Kim, Johanna Kwizera, Lucas Medeiros, Christina Neufeld, Samantha Staines, and Lily Steinhoff to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee for a term to expire at the end of the 2023 school year.
  • Appointed Hapreet Singh to the Leamington Police Services Board for the 2022-2026 term of Council.
  • Approved the request of the Leamington Flyers to name the press box located in the Highbury Canco Arena of the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Complex the “Scott Holland Press Box” for a period of 25 years.
