Council Matters – March 8, 2022

At the Leamington Council meeting on March 8, 2022, Council:

  • Directed Administration to accept taking the necessary action to transfer ownership and responsibility of Fairview Cemetery to the Municipality of Leamington.
  • Approved retaining Mark Rodger, Partner, with the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP to develop a Business Case Request for Proposals Terms of Reference, complete the procurement process for the selection of the Business Case Consultant Team, and prepare those sections of the Business Case that pertain to legal and regulatory issues and considerations and that it be funded through the Infrastructure Reserve in an amount not to exceed $75,000 plus HST. This project involves the construction of a new 16km Sanitary Trunk Sewer from the Pollution Control Centre located on County Road 20 to Mersea Road 11 at the northern limits of the Municipality of Leamington along MTO Highway 77.  The latest cost estimates for this project are in the range of $120 million.
  • Approved the amendment to Policy F17-Purchasing. In order to negate staff having to develop reports and waiting for Council's approval, it is necessary to have a purchasing/tendering policy which is fair and equitable and applied evenly to all those requested to provide services/goods to the Corporation. 
  • Approved the purchase of one 2022 Pierce Engine Apparatus in the amount of $671,914.81 (plus applicable taxes) from Commercial Emergency Equipment Company and approved the additional funding of $205,000 required to purchase and outfit the apparatus be funded through the Fire Services reserve.
  • Received the Treasurer’s Statement for 2021 Council and Appointee remuneration and expenses be received for information in accordance with Section 284 of the Municipal Act as required by March 31.
