Council Matters – November 12, 2024

At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Council:

  • Approved an application to re-designate 810 Mersea Road 4 to Agricultural Zone, rezone 806 Mersea Road 4 to Commercial Shopping Centre Zone, permitting the use of the existing dwelling as an Off-site Farm Worker Dwelling for a maximum of three years, and rezone 810 Mersea Road 4 to Agricultural Resident Zone which permits an Off-site Farm Worker Dwelling to recognize the existing frontage.
  • Authorized the imposition of fees on properties benefitting from the increased sanitary servicing capacity resulting from the Sanitary Pump Station 200 reconstruction project and funded the remaining variance of $389,586 from the Pollution Control Centre reserve.
  • Changed the composition of the Property Standards Committee from one member of Council, one member of the public, and a current or former member of the legal profession or a person who has a particular knowledge of the rules applicable to quasi-judicial bodies who shall be appointed as Chair, to two members of Council and one member of the public.
  • Authorized Administration to enter into a contract extension for one-year with M&S Janitorial Services Ltd. for janitorial services at a cost of $184,260 plus HST.
  • Approved the 2025 Leamington Council meeting schedule.
  • Received for information an annual report regarding the 2024 accomplishments of the Leamington Accessibility Advisory Committee.
  • Removed the property located at 304 Robson Road from the Leamington Municipal Register of Heritage Properties to allow for demolition.
  • Removed the Holding symbol from the zoning of the property located at 4 Bruce Avenue due to adequate municipal servicing being available for the proposed development.
  • Approved the request to extend the draft approval given to the Bevel Line Village Plan of Subdivision from November 21, 2024, to November 21, 2027, due to delays caused by economic factors.
