To slow the spread of COVID-19, the Municipality of Leamington is extending the cancellation of municipal events and summer day camp through to September 7, 2020 (Labour Day).

The decision to cancel municipal events and summer day camp is in response to the provincial emergency order that prohibits organized public events and social gatherings of more than 10 people, and supports Public Health direction that physical distancing is critical to slowing the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the facility where summer day camp programming is held remains closed to the public and has been established as a COVID-19 assessment and testing centre and as a pop-up isolation centre should the need arise as a result of outbreaks within the agricultural sector.

The following municipally run events have been cancelled:

1) Mill Street Markets – August and September
2) Summer Concert Series at the Sunset Stadium – August concert and Labour Day
3) Sunday Serenades at Rick Atkin Park – August/September
4) Music at the Marina – August/September

Municipal staff will continue to work proactively with event organizers to delay, cancel or determine potential alternative options for events planned up to September 7, 2020 on municipal property, as part of a collective effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
