Leamington Partners with Caldwell First Nation and Affiliates on Skills Development Initiative

The Municipality of Leamington and the Caldwell First Nation are pleased to announce their partnership with external affiliates on a skills development initiative focused on cultivating both personal and professional relationships based on trust, respect and economic prosperity.

This partnership initiative will allow members of the Caldwell First Nation and affiliates to gain skills required to develop and maintain their communities through a mentoring and internship placement program with the Municipality of Leamington.

This mutually beneficial partnership program will provide expertise development through on-the-job training designed to enhance employment opportunities, promote diversity and community partnerships. Once fully developed, this program has the potential to create up to 50 new jobs. 

“Through positive partnerships, common goals and visions are often shared.  For goals and visions to become a reality, life must be breathed into them, they must be nurtured.  The visions we share for Caldwell First Nation and the Municipality of Leamington are bright and rich with opportunities that will benefit both communities.” said Chief Louise Hillier of the Caldwell First Nation.
 
“This program is as unique as the Leamington area and is a significant part of workforce development and cultural diversity initiatives under the Municipality’s Community Development portfolio” said Mayor John Paterson.  “The Municipality of Leamington looks forward to a strong and prosperous relationship with the Caldwell First Nation as partners, neighbours and friends, weaving and celebrating cultural diversity into the fabric of our communities” added Mayor Paterson.
