Leamington’s Reinvent This Space Winner Announced
Leamington will soon have a new business opening in its Uptown.
Congratulations to Christine’s Bake Shop, winner of the 2019-2020 Reinvent This Space competition. Christine’s Bake Shop will receive up to $15,000 in Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grant funding to cover 12 months of rent for an Uptown Leamington storefront.
Christine’s Bake Shop is a family-run, small batch bakery producing cookies, muffins, scones, cakes, and more. With support from Reinvent This Space, Christine’s Bake Shop will be making the transition to a permanent storefront in Uptown Leamington.
“Christine’s Bake Shop has been a fixture at local farmer’s markets for the past five years, and will be a fantastic addition to Uptown Leamington,” said Mayor Hilda Macdonald. “All of our participants in Reinvent This Space were inspiring and picking a winner was very difficult.”
Participants in Reinvent This Space received in-depth mentoring from a panel of local business leaders over the course of three months. With this coaching, participants developed their ideas into viable business plans and pitched their idea to the judging panel. The judging panel provided detailed feedback to all participants, and the Leamington Economic Development Office will continue to coach and guide all potential entrepreneurs.
Christine’s Bake Shop is anticipated to open its doors in the summer of 2020.
