What's New?

At a meeting held July 14, 2020, Leamington Council extended additional financial relief measures to help residents and businesses manage the impacts of COVID-19. Relief measures reflect the Municipality’s concerns for the community’s well-being and economic conditions. They include:

  •  Waiving all penalties and interest on any overdue balances through to and including November 30, 2020.
  •  Waiving all returned cheque or electronic payment fees through to and including November 30, 2020.
  •  The final instalment for the 2020 Final Property Taxes remains October 30,2020.

Property Tax Relief Summary:

  • All 10-month plan pre-authorized payments (PAP) will be withdrawn on the previously scheduled dates unless property owners contact the Municipality of Leamington's Property Tax Department by email at taxes@leamington.ca and make alternate payment arrangements at least 5 business days prior to the withdrawal.
  • Property owners who have their property taxes included in their mortgage need to contact their respective institutions to discuss options.

These relief measures are examples of the Municipality taking action in response to COVID-19. For more information on COVID-19 planning and preparations by the Municipality of Leamington, please visit our dedicated COVID-19 page here.

Late Payments

There is a 1.25% penalty for overdue taxes.  The Municipality charges this penalty on the first day of default and we add an additional 1.25% interest on the first day of each month until you pay the total amount.

Returned Items or Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF)

An NSF charge of $ 25.00 will be required to be paid before any amounts are applied to the outstanding taxes.  A payment in the form of cash, certified cheque or money order will be required if a cheque is returned NSF from a banking institution.
