Council Matters – July 14, 2026
At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, July 14, 2026 Council:
- Adopted a report by Rood Engineering for the replacement of the access bridge over the B & C Concession Road Drain East.
- Approved Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) #373 to rezone 120 Mersea Road 5 to a site-specific zone Agricultural Hobby Farm Zone (A3-37) to permit an Agricultural Contractors Yard and accessory use.
- Received a presentation from Windsor-Essex EMS about the Emergency Medical Services Dispatch Software
- Retained the services of Delta Science and Engineering Inc. to complete the Sturgeon Creek Master Drainage Study in accordance with the proposal submitted in the amount of $213,300 (plus applicable taxes).
- Awarded the 2026 Mersea Road D Resurfacing Project to Shepley Road Maintenance in the amount of $566,997 (plus applicable taxes).
- Granted the contract for the 2026 Sidewalk Construction Project to Nasci Construction Services Ltd in the amount of $172,295 (plus applicable taxes). Council also extended the sidewalk project to include Queens Avenue from Hazelton to Clark Street.
- Amended the 2026 Fee Schedule by including a fee for renting the WIBIT at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre. Council also approved two new fees for energy proposals and removed the $1,000 per assessable acre at the time of site plan agreement fee which is charged to developers to comply with a new direction from the Province.
- Adopted the Engineers report for the changes in the maintenance assessment schedules for the Hooker Drain, prepared by N.J. Peralta Engineering dated June 22, 2026 for parcel 880-00800.
- As a result of a Notice of Motion, directed Administration to bring back a report on digital after-hours access to the Pollution Control Plant.
