Sidewalk Patios
Uptown Leamington business owners looking to operate a patio on municipally-owned sidewalks can apply for a Temporary Sidewalk Patio. Temporary Sidewalk Patios are operational April 1 through October 1.
The first step to obtaining Municipal approval for your sidewalk patio project is submitting an application, along with a drawing of your patio meeting all requirements specified in the Sidewalk Patio Guidelines. Once you have your drawing prepared please use the link below to submit your application.
Once you receive the Municipality's approval of your patio application and design the next step is to provide a Certificate of Insurance meeting all requirements specified in the Sidewalk Patio Guidelines. Please ensure that the certificate clearly identifies the operation of a Sidewalk Patio and that the certificate will remain valid for the duration of the patio operational season (April 1 through October 1).
The final step in the process will be to apply for an encroachment permit with a total fee of $1150.00 (Application Fee of $250.00 plus an Encroachment Deposit of $1000.00). The application can be completed online using the link below, or in-person at the Municipal Building. Deposit may be returned to the applicant after the removal of the patio has been inspected and accepted by the Municipality. The applicant is responsible for any damage caused to the Municipal Right of Way and must returned it to a pre-construction state.
Should the applicant intend to serve alcohol on the proposed patio they will be required to provide proof of the establishment's liquor licensing clearly identifying the sidewalk patio operations.
