Council Matters – May 12, 2026

At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, May 12, 2026 Council:

• Adopted an engineer’s report for a culvert extension over the Robert Anderson Drain and authorized the project to be tendered at the engineer’s construction estimate of $39,875.
  
  
• Approved funding for the Green Municipal Fund’s Growing Canada’s Community Canopies project to plant trees at the new Bayview Regional Park site, Pure Flavour® Soccer Complex and the remaining trees in 15 other municipally owned parks.
  
  
• Amended the Business Licensing By-law, the Parks By-law and the Noise By-law for the purpose of exempting the Waterfront Market Plaza from provisions to permit ongoing food and beverage vending and entertainment activities.
  
  
• Approved funding for the 2026 municipal partners and municipal grants.
  
  
• Received for information an annual Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act statistical report which provides information on access requests that are received by the municipality, the municipality’s response time, the decisions that were made in response to these requests and the fees charged.
  
  
• Received for information annual inspection reports on municipal drinking water systems, specifically the Leamington (Union) Distribution System and the Leamington (Wheatley) Distribution System.
  
  
• Approved a new by-law to designate a Site Plan Control Area and exempt certain development from the requirement for Site Plan approval to regulate the placement of buildings and structures on a property.
