Election Compliance Audit Committee
The Municipality of Leamington is seeking applicants who wish to be appointed to the Election Compliance Audit Committee. Compliance Audit Committees are required under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 to consider applications requesting audits of candidates’ and registered third party advertisers campaign finances. Committees may be required to appoint auditors and determine if legal proceedings are required as a result of the auditors’ reports, or reports from the Clerk.
Applicants must have a background in accounting, auditing, law, election administration, and/or public administration. Applicants must also:
- be at least 18 years of age;
- a Canadian Citizen;
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of municipal elections, including campaign finance rules;
- proven analytical and decision-making skills.
- Previous experience on a committee, task force or tribunal would be an asset.
Applications will not be accepted from:
- Employees or officers of the Municipality of Leamington
- Members of Council
- Registered third parties or candidates in the election for which the Committee is established or family members or employees of same, or any person connected to a candidate or registered third party through employment, contractual, business or partnership relationship
- Any person who intends to volunteer or seek employment to assist any candidate or registered third party in the election for which the Committee is established.
The Committee’s term is for four years, beginning in December 2026. Successful applicants will receive a per-meeting remuneration of $150. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview process.
