Municipality of Leamington Begins Traffic Infrastructure Improvements Project

The Municipality of Leamington is undertaking a Traffic Infrastructure Improvements Project to enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic operations, and support safer travel throughout the community.

Construction is anticipated to begin on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and continue through November 2026, weather permitting.

The project includes the installation of three new Pedestrian Crossovers (PXOs) and a new traffic signal at the following locations:

New Pedestrian Crossovers (PXOs):

  • Oak Street West and Carter Avenue
  • Erie Street South and Marlborough Street
  • Erie Street North and Clark Street

New Traffic Signal:

  • Talbot Street West and Armstrong Drive

The improvements are designed to enhance pedestrian safety at key crossing locations, improve accessibility, strengthen traffic operations, and create a safer transportation network for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Scope of Work

Construction activities will include:

  • Installation of pedestrian crossover infrastructure
  • New crosswalk pavement markings and signage
  • Sidewalk and accessibility improvements
  • Streetlight modifications and upgrades
  • Installation of a new traffic signal at Talbot Street West and Armstrong Drive
  • Associated roadway restoration, including curb, sidewalk, and pavement work where required

Residents, businesses, and visitors may experience temporary traffic delays and lane restrictions during construction.
