Municipality of Leamington Enacts Temporary Fire Ban Due to Air Quality
Due to ongoing poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke affecting the region, the Municipality of Leamington has enacted a temporary fire ban effective Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
During the fire ban, all open-air burning is prohibited within the Municipality. In addition, no new Open Air Burn Permits will be issued or approved while the ban remains in effect.
The temporary fire ban has been implemented to help reduce smoke and protect the health and safety of residents during the current air quality event.
The ban is expected to remain in effect until Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at which time it is anticipated to be lifted, subject to air quality conditions.
The Municipality will continue to monitor air quality conditions and will advise the public if the duration of the fire ban changes.
