Municipality of Leamington to Begin Sidewalk Improvements on Queens Avenue, Wilkinson Drive, Erie Street South, and Talbot Street East
The Municipality of Leamington is undertaking sidewalk and related infrastructure improvements along Queens Avenue, Wilkinson Drive, Erie Street South, and Talbot Street East to enhance pedestrian connections, improve accessibility, and support safer travel in the area.
Construction is anticipated to begin on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and be completed by Friday, August 28, 2026, weather permitting.
Scope of Work
Construction activities will include:
- Tree trimming and removals along Erie Street South, Queens Avenue, and Wilkinson Drive that have been reviewed by an arborist.
- Construction of a new sidewalk on the east side of Queens Avenue between Clark Street and Wilkinson Drive.
- Construction of a new sidewalk along Wilkinson Drive between Queens Avenue and the Essex-Windsor EMS facility
- Sidewalk repairs on Talbot Street East and Erie Street South
- Installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of Queens Avenue and Hazelton Street
These improvements will strengthen pedestrian connections and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians travelling throughout the area.
Traffic will be maintained during construction; however, motorists and pedestrians should expect temporary delays and localized disruptions. Every effort will be made to minimize impacts and maintain access to local properties throughout the project.
Construction schedules are weather dependent and may also be affected by contractor scheduling, material availability, or other unforeseen circumstances. As a result, timelines are subject to change.
