Potential Canada Post Strike: How it May Impact Municipal Services
Following a temporary pause in the national Canada Post labour disruption at the end of 2024, negotiations between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are ongoing. A strike or service interruption remains possible as early as May 22, 2025.
While a resolution may still be reached, the Municipality of Leamington is encouraging residents and businesses to prepare for potential service interruptions. A Canada Post strike could impact the timely delivery of important municipal documents, including property tax bills, water and wastewater bills, invoices, and public notices.
To avoid delays or penalties and guarantee continuous access to this information, the Municipality strongly recommends using the following alternative options:
- Sign up for electronic billing (e-billing)
- Enroll in a pre-authorized payment plan
- Use online services where available
Important: The account holder is responsible for ensuring all payments are made by their respective due dates, regardless of any mail service disruptions.
