About Leamington

Welcome to the Municipality of Leamington.  Our community of nearly 30,000 people is a culturally rich mosaic, cherishing its ethnic and rural roots. Located along the north shore of Lake Erie in sunny southern Ontario, the community offers an excellent school system, a community hospital, first-class recreational facilities, police and fire services, affordable housing and cozy neighbourhoods, making Leamington an attractive choice for family living, business investment or retirement.

Located on the 42^nd parallel, Leamington shares the same latitude as northern California. Our winters are probably the mildest in the county and our summers are long and lingering. Lakeside breezes moderate our weather year round. Magnificent parks such as Point Pelee National Park with its unique species, kilometers of waterfront parkland and walking trails, conservation areas, marina and recreation complex appeal to the outdoor enthusiast and those looking for a healthy lifestyle.

Home to some of the most fertile soils on the continent, Leamington has one of the longest growing seasons in the county. Everything from apples to zucchini can be found at the many fruit and vegetable stands that dot the roadsides. In fact, it’s been said that if it doesn’t grow in Leamington it can’t be grown in Canada!

Leamington is also home to the largest concentration of Greenhouses in North America. This multi-million dollar industry focuses mainly on growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and flowers. We also have a thriving commercial and manufacturing sector with land available for future growth and development.
