Leamington’s Marriage Licence Application is now digital! Complete your application, upload your documents, pay online and a Customer Service Representative will be in contact with you to schedule a Marriage Licence pick-up appointment.

Please note that Marriage Licence pick-ups will only be scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays during regular office hours, and only one applicant will be allowed to attend the Municipal Office for pickup. Marriage Licences are non-refundable

Effective August 11, 2020, masks are required to be worn in enclosed public spaces at Leamington municipal facilities as per the Mandatory Mask By-law. 

Before you get started, be sure to have the following documents on hand:

  • Certificate(s) of Divorce, if applicable.
  • Valid Authorization to Remarry (Foreign Divorce Authorization), if applicable.
  • Two pieces of valid identification for each applicant. One piece of identification must include a photo. See chart below.

  • Certificate of Indian Status Card
  • Canadian Permanent Resident Card

  • Change of Name Certificate
  • Canadian Immigration Status Papers (i.e. Record of Landing)

Apply for a Marriage Licence

Marriage Licence Validity 

  • All marriage licences are valid for a period of 3 months (90 days) from date of issue.
  • Licences issued between December 1, 2019 and July 24, 2020 are still valid and can be used until July 24, 2022.

  • Licences issued between October 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 are still valid and can be used until February 10, 2023.

  • Licences issued between January 1, 2021 and June 4, 2021 are still valid and can be used until June 4, 2023.

    Note: the validity period for marriage licences issued between July 25, 2020 and September 30, 2020 has not been extended.

Marriage Certificates

You may apply for a marriage certificate from Service Ontario six to eight weeks after your marriage ceremony. There are two ways to apply:
