Petitions received by the Clerk that do not meet the requirements indicated below will be returned to the individual or group initiating the petition.
- The Clerk will not accept any petition that contains any improper, obscene, or offensive language or information,
- petitions must clearly state the issue or cause that it seeks to address and specify the desired outcome of action,
- the subject matter of the petition must be a matter over which Council has authority to act,
- petitions must contain the name, address and original signature of each person signing the petition,
- petitions must be supported by at least 25 signatures,
- if electronic, the petition must contain the name, address of, and valid email of each person signing the petition,
- each page of the petition should be numbered with a total number of pages indicated, and
- contain a disclosure that the document is a public document and that personal information, names, signatures and comments contained in the petition will be included on a public Council Meeting Agenda and shall form part of the public record.
