COVID-19 Vaccination/Rapid Test Policy in Place at Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre

The Municipality of Leamington is looking forward to welcoming members and guests back to the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre (NFFRC) on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, with a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination/rapid test policy in place.

Beginning September 8, 2021, the Municipality will require individuals, 12 years of age and older, to confirm full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result within 12 hours in order to gain access to the facility.

The Municipality will also require that every member or user of the facility make an appointment to participate in any program or class through the Municipality’s online booking system. These requirements will be in addition to other COVID-19 pre-screening protocols.

COVID-19 Pre-Screening Questionnaire For NFFRC Entrants

All entrants of the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre are required to pre-screen themselves prior to each entry to our facility. If you feel ill, do not enter the facility. Upon completion of the questionnaire, please be prepared to show entry confirmation to our staff at the entrance door.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why have you introduced this policy?

The Municipality of Leamington is committed to doing our part to curb the transmission of COVID-19 in our community. With vaccination rates lower than anticipated in Leamington, and with new variants emerging, there is a growing need to introduce additional measures to help protect the health and safety of our employees, guests and the broader community.

What do I need to be considered fully vaccinated to enter the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre?

For individuals 12 years of age and older, fully vaccinated is defined as having received a second vaccination dose at least two weeks prior to entering the facility.

Do I still have to wear a mask in the facility if I am fully vaccinated or have received a negative COVID-19 test?

Masks are required inside the facility, except while eating, drinking or while engaging in an athletic or fitness activity as per provincial public health directives.

If I’m not fully vaccinated, can I take a COVID-19 test and produce a negative result to obtain entry into the facility?

To enter the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre, entrants either need to be fully vaccinated (two doses) or take a COVID-19 test a maximum of 12 hours beforehand and produce a negative result.

Where can I get a COVID-19 test and who covers the cost?

Rapid antigen screening tests are available at select pharmacies. Individuals will be responsible for covering the cost of their own tests.

How do I provide proof of my COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test?

With a lack of a digital tool/electronic vaccine passport available through government agencies, the Municipality is currently developing a process for users to show proof of vaccination or negative test that is both secure and user-friendly. Given the unpredictability of COVID-19, we also anticipate that our process will evolve and refine over time. More details on the process will be forthcoming. Please stay tuned.

Where do I get a COVID-19 vaccine?

Vaccines can be booked through the provincial system here, at participating pharmacies and pop-up clinics when available. Walk-ins are welcome at the Devonshire Mall Mass Vaccination Clinic in Windsor.

My child is under the age of 12, what is the requirement for them?

Children not eligible to be vaccinated are welcome to attend the facility and will have to complete a COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire prior to entry. Any person attending with the child under the age of 12, must comply with the policy.

What if I am not vaccinated for medical reasons?

Those who are not vaccinated for medical reasons must have a negative COVID-19 test taken a maximum of 12 hours beforehand and show proof prior to entry.

What if I am not vaccinated for a religious reason?

Anyone unvaccinated for religious reasons must have a negative COVID-19 test taken a maximum of 12 hours beforehand and show proof prior to entry.

What if I’ve only had one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine?

Individuals 12 years of age or older must be fully vaccinated (two doses) or undertake a COVID-19 test with proof of a negative result within a maximum of 12 hours of entry.

What happens if it has not been two weeks since my second vaccination? Can I still enter?

If it has not been two weeks since your second vaccination, you will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test taken a maximum of 12 hours beforehand and show proof prior to entry.

What if I received my vaccination outside of Canada?

Vaccinations received outside of Canada are accepted as long as they are Health Canada or the World Health Organization (WHO) approved.

Will the vaccination/testing requirement apply to all events and games held at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre?

Yes, until further notice, this requirement applies to all events and games held at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre.

Where can I find more information about COVID-19 vaccines?
More information can be found by visiting Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine safety website and the Government of Canada’s facts about COVID-19 vaccines website.
What about employees or volunteers at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre?

Employees and volunteers working in any capacity at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Center must be fully vaccinated (two doses) or undertake a COVID-19 test with proof of a negative result prior to entry.
