Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre Now Offering Programming and Amenities by Advance Registration

The Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre (NFFRC) will begin offering select programming and amenities by advance registration beginning this fall.

Due to COVID-19 protocols in place for the protection of the public and employees, all visits will need to be scheduled in advance and class sizes will be reduced.

What safety precautions have been put in place?

The safety of our patrons and employees is our highest priority. The changes we have made to our operations include enhanced cleaning protocols, reduced visitors in the building, room capacity limits and space utilization that allows for physical distancing and reduced face-to-face contact.

Visitors will be required to wear a mask inside the facility in accordance with the Municipality’s Mandatory Mask By-law. Patrons may remove their mask when engaging in a sport or other strenuous physical activity. Details regarding mask requirements will be provided in each of the registered activity descriptions.

How do I register for a program or book an amenity?

We are pleased to offer a modified fall season of group fitness classes and use of the pool, weight room, court and track areas with capacity limits by advance online registration only. Limited recreation programming is set to begin the week of September 21. 

Online registration for fall recreation programming and amenity bookings opens each Monday at 7:00 AM for the following week.

No in-person registrations or payments are available at this time. 

How do I request a membership refund?

Anyone who held a membership with us as of March 16, 2020, will have a credit applied to their account.  You may choose to have your credit refunded prior to November 1, 2020 by filling out our online form: or by calling us at 519-322-2337.

While we operate with reduced services and amenities, we are offering a discounted one-month membership for $30+HST or a $9 single visit fee.

Please note that your credit on account will be used toward your new one-month membership or single visit fees.

What changes have been made to programming and access to amenities?

  • Advance registration will be required for group fitness classes, the pool, weight room, court and track areas.
  • Room capacity limits are in place to ensure physical distancing.
  • The fitness studio will be marked to allow appropriate physical distancing and will have reduced class capacity.
  • Some classes will be moved to the gymnasium to allow for additional class participants.
  • Members are expected to maintain a two-meter distance from all other users.
  • Visitors must follow all directional markings to allow for appropriate spacing between users of all spaces.
  • Depending on the activity you are registered for, access may be through alternate doors. Please read the details of each of our activities closely to ensure you are prepared for your visit.

 What amenities are temporarily unavailable?

  • Small to clean accessories such as yoga blocks, foam rollers, straps, resistance bands, ropes etc.
  • Water Fountains (touchless water bottle filling stations will be available in some zones)

Here are some things you need to know before your next visit:

 Visiting the Facility: Masks, Entrances, Checking in
Are masks required within the facility?

Masks are required throughout all common areas of the NFFRC.  No Mask, No Entry.

Masks can be removed only when participating in defined fitness activities.

Will masks be available for purchase at the NFFRC?
No, masks are not available for purchase.  Please bring a mask with you. 
Will participants be asked to apply hand sanitizer immediately upon entry to the building? 
Yes.  We will be asking members to apply hand sanitizer upon entry to the facility, and we will have an increased number of hand sanitizer stations available throughout our building.
What will the customer service desk look like? 
All Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre (NFFRC) staff will be situated behind glass or plexi-glass barriers at various service desks around the Recreation Centre.  We ask that all members employ physical distancing measures. 
What entrance do I go to for my reservation? 

Each area will have designated entrances and exits as detailed in your reservation.

  • Fitness Studio – NFFRC Sherk Entrance
  • Courts – NFFRC Sherk Entrance
  • Gymnasium –  NFFRC Gymnasium Entrance
  • Pool – NFFRC Sherk Entrance

Am I required to arrive at the beginning of my reservation? 
Members should arrive 5 to 10 minutes (maximum) prior to their scheduled reservation times to allow adequate time to be checked in and to complete the screening process. 


 Reservation Information: Capacity limits, When to register
 Will there be a capacity limit in the Weight Room and Fitness Studio?

The NFFRC will be adhering to provincial and municipal guidelines limiting the number of participants depending on the space and physical distancing capabilities in all areas of our facility.  The number of permitted participants will be displayed during the registration process and will be enforced at all times.

Members can arrive at any time during their reserved weight room time slot; however, you will only be permitted to stay until the end of your reservation.  As an example, if you show up 15 minutes into your reservation you will only have 45 minutes to utilize the facility.

Why are reservations only one hour in length?

The NFFRC will be operating on regulated hours and reduced capacities to provide opportunities for as many members as possible. After each hour session, staff will clear the space and undertake cleaning and sanitizing protocols to welcome additional members in upcoming sessions.

Can I sign up for several reservations in one day? 
Due to capacity restrictions imposed by provincial and municipal guidelines, we will be allowing for only one time slot per day per area.  Abuse of this rule by any member will result in a temporary suspension.  
How far in advance am I able to book my visit? 
You will be able to reserve your time slot online.  Activities are planned on a week-to-week basis.  Active members can secure their spot for the following week beginning Monday morning at 7:00 AM.  Please remember no walk-ins will be permitted and no reservations will be taken on site. 
What happens if I miss my reserved time slot?

Given the limited number of spots available by reservation, we request that you respect the interest of other members and provide as much notice as possible by cancelling your reservation. Pay as you go will be final sale only unless cancelled by the Municipality of Leamington.  You can do so by emailing

Failure to show up for two consecutive bookings within one month will result in modification of your membership, to day before booking only privileges and subsequently may result in loss of membership privileges all together. 


 Access Within the Facility: Change Rooms, Washrooms, Lockers, misc.
Will I be able to use the change rooms/lockers?

Pool users will have access to the change room - no lockers.

Other users will only have access to washrooms. 

Directional signage indicating permitted washroom spaces will be posted throughout the facility.

** Note:  Washroom can not be used as a change room.

Will there be assigned space for my personal items? 

There will be designated spaces and hooks available for members to place their personal items (i.e. keys) Please leave all other items at home. Backpacks/bags will not be permitted in the facility during this first phase of reopening. 

Pool users may bring a bag, but will not have access to lockers. 

How do I retrieve my locker contents, which were left prior to COVID-19? 
Access to lockers remains suspended during Phase 1 of reopening. Locker rentals will no longer be available at this time. In accordance with our locker policy, all unrented locker spaces will have locks removed and locker contents bagged for pick up.  Please email to schedule a pick up time to retrieve your locker contents.  A brief description of locker number and contents will be required.  
Can I use the water fountains?
Members are encouraged to bring a pre-filled water bottle for their workouts. Water bottle filling stations will be open; however, water fountains for drinking purposes will be closed due to health and safety concerns. 
What equipment is available in the Weight Room? 
The NFFRC will provide as many pieces of equipment as possible within the limitations of physical distancing.  If you find a piece of equipment missing from the rotation, ask a staff member to show you another way to work out the same muscle group. Weights and plates are available.  Mats, fitness balls, BOSU, etc., have all been removed from circulation at this time. 
What methods of payment are preferred? 
To limit exposure to our staff, the NFFRC is removing cash as an option for general transactions. Debit and credit card payments will be available as all transactions will be online or by phone. 
Will personal training sessions be available?
Yes. Personal training sessions are available for purchase with any of our trainers. 
Are the racquetball and squash courts open?
Yes, courts will be available by reservations beginning September 21.  
Will I be able to take swimming lessons or come for an open swim? 
During Phase 1 of our reopening plans, our programming in the pool is limited to Lane and Leisure swimming.  Look for additional programming to return late fall.
