Open Air Burning

In May of 2010, The Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Leamington approved By-law 34-10  regulating open fires in the Municipality of Leamington.  Under this by-law, a permit may be approved for open fires if it meets certain criteria.

Residents are requested to contact the Fire Department between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Monday to Friday to inquire whether they may obtain a permit for the type of fire they wish to have at their address.  Applications are not available online, because the Fire Prevention Officer must do a site visit.  If you are renewing an annual fire permit and there are no changes, it may be obtained at the fire station during business hours.  No site visit is required.  Open Air Burning Permits and renewals are $20.00 (tax included).

Any person who wishes to make a complaint regarding an open air burn should contact our dispatch centre at 519-326-4431.
