  • Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted

    Dr. Mehdi Aloosh, Medical Officer of Health for the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, has rescinded the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory issued on July 8, 2025, for waterline consumers serviced by the Union Water Supply System in the Municipality of Leamington.

  • Leamington Residents to Join EWSWA Green Bin Program in 2026

    The Municipality of Leamington is informing residents that while the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority’s (EWSWA) new Green Bin Program is currently being rolled out in Phase 1 communities (Essex, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Tecumseh, and Windsor), Leamington will be included in Phase 2 of the regional project. Green Bin delivery and collection in Leamington are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026.

  • Council Matters – June 24, 2025

    At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Council:

    •  Held a Court of Revision under the Drainage Act and confirmed the Schedule of Assessment in the Engineer’s report for a new petition drain branching off the Sturgeon Creek Drain to be known as the Brunato Drain.
    •  Approved an amendment to the language of the Official Plan to permit Additional Residential Units and allow mixed-use developments in the residential designation.

    Leamington Dedicates John Jacobs Way at Marina in Honour of Late Councillor

    The Municipality of Leamington has formally dedicated a new sign at the Leamington Marina in memory of the late Councillor John Jacobs, naming the marina roadway “John Jacobs Way” in his honour.

    Councillor Jacobs passed away in 2020 while serving his third term on Leamington Council.

    Enhanced Parking Enforcement in Leamington’s Waterfront District

    The Municipality of Leamington is addressing an increase in vehicles parking in non-designated areas throughout the waterfront district. Despite ongoing enforcement, this continues to create safety risks and block access for pedestrians, park users, and emergency vehicles.

  • Council Matters – June 10, 2025

    At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Council:

    • Approved an Official Plan Amendment to amend the land designation from Hamlet to Agricultural for the land located at 720 and 730 Mersea Road 8. Council also authorized a Zoning By-law Amendment to rezone the land located at 720 Mersea Road 8 from Residential Zone (R1) to Agricultural Restricted Zone (A2) to support the development of a greenhouse.
